World Rhythmic champion Yana Kudryavtseva topped a high-level field of international competitiors to win the Thiais Grand Prix, held this past weekend just outside of Paris.
The youngest-ever World Rhythmic All-around champion debuted new and often more dramatic routines on every event at Thiais, and recorded the All-around's top scores with the Ball (18.800) and Clubs (18.500). As the only athlete to break 18 on all four events, Kudryavtseva easily won the All-around, tallying 74.300 points in all.
FIG Colloquium Gymnastics for All
Orlando (USA), March 13 – 16, 2014
The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) is holding a Gymnastics for All colloquium in Orlando (USA) on March 13 – 16, 2014.
An annual event addressed to national federations, this year’s colloquium, organised by the FIG Gymnastics for All Committee and led by Committee President Margaret Sikkens Ahlquist (SWE), focuses on education and development as well as quality and safety standards.
An Academy review group for Aerobic Gymnastics met on March 5 and 6, 2014, at the FIG Headquarters in Lausanne (SUI).
The purpose of the meeting was to review all documents, resources and lectures for the three levels of FIG Academies and modify or update them where required. Recent changes in the Code of Points have permitted the inclusion of more gymnastics, tumbling and “off-axis” rotating leaps. In addition, the new Aerobic Step and Aerobic Dance events had been added recently.
2013 World Games Mixed Pairs gold medallists Alice Upcott and Dominic Smith (GBR) are among the World stars set to compete at this weekend's Maia Acrobatic World Cup in Maia (POR).
As the first of two World Cups leading up to this summer's World Acro Championships in Paris-Levallois (FRA), the stage is set in Maia for both veterans and newcomers to make a big impression in the runup to Worlds.
Lausanne (SUI), FIG Office, March 6, 2013: Clutch performances at the 2014 American Cup have vaulted Elizabeth Price (USA) and Daniel Purvis (GBR) into the lead in the World Cup rankings going into the fourth and final meet of the 2013-2014 FIG World Cup series.
